What Is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift is a form of facial plastic surgery focused on addressing aesthetic issues affecting the neck. These can include lax neck skin, excess stubborn neck fat, and loose, sagging neck muscles. Ideal Neck Lift Candidates
The best neck lift candidates are unhappy with the aged or out-of-shape appearance of their neck. Ideal candidates are in good overall health and are not pregnant or breastfeeding.

Procedure at a Glance:
Indications: The neck lift is a perfect choice for patients with a double chin, harsh platysmal neck bands, and drooping neck skin.
Anesthesia: IV Twilight Sedation
Surgery Type: Outpatient
Downtime: One to two weeks with restrictions on exercise. Bruising and swelling are normal and will subside over time.
Removal of Stitches: Stitches are dissolvable. A drain may be inserted to address excess fluid, bleeding, and swelling. Drains are usually taken out three to five days after surgery during a follow-up appointment.
Techniques: Platysmaplasty, cervicoplasty, and liposuction if indicated. Incisions are discreetly created behind the ears and under the chin. Skin and fat may be removed, and platysma muscles may be rejoined and tightened, creating a contoured and sculpted neck.
Complementary Procedures: Other facial plastic surgery procedures like facelifts, mini facelifts, chin augmentation, brow lifts, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty can be performed to complement a neck lift. Lip rejuvenation and skin resurfacing can also be included.

She began her journey in medicine at Purdue University, earning a Nursing degree, and then pursued her medical degree in Indianapolis at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She graduated with honors. Dr. Winslow followed this with a General Surgery internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver.
Next, she completed a residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Finally, she completed a Microvascular and Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship at Portland’s Oregon Health Sciences University.
Since 2023, she has been honored by Castle Connolly as a Top Doctor. Thanks to her high degree of surgical expertise, the State of Indiana awarded her the Torchbearer Award.

What to Expect During the Neck Lift Procedure
At the start of the neck lift procedure, anesthesia is administered to ensure patient comfort. Next, Dr. Winslow creates tiny incisions behind the ears and/or below the chin. These incisions are very well-camouflaged.
Dr. Winslow may then perform neck liposuction, cervicoplasty, and/or platysmaplasty as needed.
Neck Liposuction: This involves insertion of a tool called a cannula, which is used to suction out excess fat.
Cervicoplasty: This involves removal of excess neck skin using a scalpel. The remaining skin is then tightened.
Platysmaplasty: This involves placement of internal sutures to rejoin and tighten platysma muscles that have separated and are sagging.
Once Dr. Winslow has performed one or more of these neck lift techniques, she closes all incisions with sutures and then dresses them appropriately.
Neck Lift Recovery and Results
After your neck lift from Dr. Winslow, you may need to wear an elastic support garment overnight for up to two weeks in order to minimize post-surgical swelling. Along with swelling, there will be a degree of bruising in the neck and jaw areas. Applying cold compresses can help these issues ameliorate more quickly, as can keeping your head elevated at all times. Pillows can help keep your head comfortably elevated overnight.
You will need to come in for neck lift follow-up appointments, which will allow Dr. Winslow to evaluate your incisions. She will address any issues and clear you to resume various activities when it is safe to do so.
Though immediate changes will be visible right after surgery, the final results of your neck lift will not be fully apparent until all swelling has subsided and healing is complete. At this time, you will be able to enjoy a slimmer, tighter, and younger-looking neck.
Results will be apparent for around five to ten years, and you can preserve your results by avoiding smoking and prolonged sun exposure.
