Deep Plane Facelift in Indianapolis

Home | Deep Plane Facelift in Indianapolis

A deep plane facelift in Indianapolis can be an option for patients who want to address jowling, descent of the midface, loss of jawline definition, and age-related changes in the lower face and neck. At Winslow Facial Plastic Surgery, we approach facial rejuvenation with careful planning, surgical precision, and respect for each patient’s natural features. Our goal is not to change who you are. We listen first, evaluate the pattern of facial aging, and explain which surgical or non-surgical options may best fit your anatomy, goals, health, lifestyle, and comfort level.

Dr. Catherine Winslow is a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon with more than 20 years of experience. Her background includes serving as Chief of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and as an Otolaryngology Consultant to The White House. For facelift patients, that depth of facial specialization matters because the procedure involves skin, fat, connective tissue, facial support structures, and the neck, all of which must be considered together to create a balanced result.

A deep plane facelift is designed to reposition deeper facial tissues rather than relying on skin tightening alone. Our existing facelift approach uses a modified deep plane technique that addresses the SMAS, or superficial musculoaponeurotic system, and the descended fat pads of the midface. By elevating these deeper support layers and removing excess skin without placing unnecessary tension on the skin, we aim for a refreshed appearance that looks natural rather than pulled.

The exact plan varies from person to person. For some patients, the focus is primarily the midface and jawline. For others, we may also need to address neck laxity, separated platysmal bands, or excess fullness beneath the chin. During a consultation, we explain which areas are contributing to the changes you see and whether a modified deep plane lift, lower face and neck lift, or another facial procedure is the most appropriate approach.

Our facelift options are tailored to the degree and location of facial aging. Patients with mild to moderate midface descent and jowling but little neck concern may be candidates for a mini facelift. Patients with more significant jawline and neck changes may benefit from a lower face and neck lift that can include platysmaplasty and liposuction when appropriate.

We may also discuss complementary facial procedures when those treatments match your goals. Eyelid surgery can address hooded upper lids or under-eye bags, while a brow lift can address a low or heavy brow. Skin resurfacing focuses on surface concerns such as texture, discoloration, and fine lines that surgery does not directly correct. We may also discuss lip rejuvenation using your own SMAS tissue when it is appropriate to combine with facelift surgery.

Signs You May Need a Deep Plane Facelift in Indianapolis

You may need professional help if you notice changes that are difficult to improve with skin care or non-surgical treatments alone. Common concerns can include:

  • Jowling along the jawline
  • Descent of the cheeks or midface
  • Loose skin in the lower face
  • Reduced definition between the jaw and neck
  • Excess skin beneath the chin, or visible neck bands

A facelift is not automatically the right choice for every concern. Injectable treatments, skin resurfacing, or other non-surgical options may be useful for volume, skin quality, or early signs of aging, but do not reposition deeper facial tissues in the same way surgery can. We help you understand what each option can and cannot reasonably accomplish so you can make an informed choice without pressure.

How Much Does a Deep Plane Facelift Cost?

The cost of a deep plane facelift varies because surgery is individualized. We do not recommend choosing a facelift based on a single advertised price before a surgeon has evaluated your anatomy and goals. Your quote may reflect the extent of the lift, whether the neck is included, the complexity of tissue repositioning, anesthesia needs, facility-related costs, and whether other procedures are performed at the same time.

At your consultation, we review the recommended surgical plan and the associated fees so you understand what is included before deciding how to proceed. We can also discuss financing resources available through our practice. A personalized quote is the most accurate way to understand your expected investment.

Several factors can influence the total cost of facelift surgery. These include whether treatment is limited to the lower face or also addresses the neck, whether platysmaplasty or liposuction is appropriate, the amount of surgical correction needed, and whether complementary procedures such as blepharoplasty, brow lift, lip rejuvenation, or skin resurfacing are combined with the lift. Combining procedures may change both the surgical plan and recovery, so we discuss the benefits, tradeoffs, and safety considerations before making a recommendation.

How Our Deep Plane Facelift Process Works

We begin with a personalized consultation. We listen to the changes that bother you, review your medical history, evaluate facial and neck anatomy, and discuss what you hope to achieve. We also look at skin quality, tissue descent, jawline definition, neck contour, and how your features relate to one another.

If surgery is appropriate, we create a plan based on your anatomy rather than a standard formula. Our current facelift techniques may involve modified deep plane lifting of the SMAS and midface tissues, with platysmaplasty or liposuction when indicated. Incisions are positioned around the temporal hairline and natural contours of the ears, with an additional incision beneath the chin when neck work is needed.

Our facelift procedures are performed as outpatient surgery with IV twilight sedation in our fully accredited surgical suite. After surgery, we provide detailed instructions and scheduled follow-up. Recovery differs by patient and procedure, but our current facelift guidance generally calls for one week of restricted lifting and exercise. Bruising, swelling, numbness, tightness, and tenderness can continue for 10 to 14 days or longer, and many patients begin to look and feel more like themselves around the third week. Healing continues well beyond that point, and final results can take months to fully settle.

Why Choose Winslow Facial Plastic Surgery?

Focused Experience in Facial Plastic Surgery

We focus on the face. Dr. Winslow has more than 20 years of facial plastic surgery experience and is double board-certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Her leadership background includes serving as Chief of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, serving as an Otolaryngology Consultant to The White House, becoming the first female President of the American Board of Facial Reconstructive Plastic Surgeons, and serving as a senior board examiner.

That experience supports a detailed approach to facelift planning. Facial rejuvenation requires more than tightening skin. We consider facial proportions, tissue position, scar placement, neck anatomy, skin quality, and the way all treated areas work together. Our goal is a balanced, natural-looking result that respects your expression and individuality.

Choosing facial surgery is personal, and we want you to feel informed and comfortable throughout the process. Our team takes time to answer questions, explain preparation and recovery, and set realistic expectations. We encourage patients to review our surgical patient information before surgery and to contact us when questions arise.

Our patient-first approach also means we may recommend a different procedure, a combination of procedures, or a non-surgical option when that better fits your goals. We want the treatment plan to make sense for you, not simply fit a procedure name.

Amazing results!

15 years ago I had work done by Dr. Winslow. She was and still is awesome. I am planning to attend one of her lovely social functions to see what I can do to make my 63 year old face look like a beautiful 63 year old face. I had a face lift done by her and it lasted for 10 years. Amazing results! If there were more stars I would give her as many as available.

The compliments I get from people are enough to keep me going back.

I'm so glad that I decided to have a mini face-lift procedure at the age of 53. I was discouraged by way my lower face and neck looked. After my consult with Dr. Winslow I felt confident that she was the doctor that I wanted to perform my surgery. The staff from beginning to end was very informative and kind. I have gone back to Dr. Winslow's office for Botox and have been happy with the results. I know that as I age if I feel the need for any other procedures that I'm going to see Dr. Winslow. The compliments I get from people are enough to keep me going back.
